It's the 4th advent and holiday for the IT criminals!

Here are 4 good tips for spotting a phishing email or SMS.

Here are 4 good tips for spotting a phishing email or SMS.

1. Watch out for spelling mistakes or bad grammar:

Spelling and grammar errors are generally less in phishing emails, but it is a good idea to keep an eye on grammar and language as the text may be translated automatically.

2. If you want to click on a link:

The sender usually wants you to click on a link or button in the message. This is done in order to protect your information. If in doubt, don't click! Instead, hold the mouse cursor over the link, and it will appear at the bottom of the screen which website is being referred to.

3. You must fill in personal information:

If an e-mail tells you to fill in personal information such as address, payment information or social security number, be extra careful! If in doubt, ask a friend or call the sending company and ask if they know the message.

4. Always look at the sender's email domain:

The e-mail address contains a domain that usually leans towards the company's website. A real company will most often have a "known" email domain name, for example @supporters.dk. If the email address looks strange, simply block or delete the message.

If the accident happens and you think you have given your information away, inform your IT department or IT supplier about it. In this way, it is possible to stop the IT criminal from doing further damage.

We wish you a very good and safe 4th Advent 🎄
