It's a question we often get - and in fact up to 40% of SMEs worldwide opt out of backing up their cloud-based data. ☁
If you are in doubt as to whether it is necessary, ask yourself the following:
- What is your exit strategy if you change cloud provider or they have data loss?
- Is it possible that a colleague deletes data by mistake and you only discover it later?
- Can other unintended incidents occur with your data (e.g. internal sabotage)?
- Can a license be assigned incorrectly, so that data on the account is automatically deleted?
Microsoft itself recommends that you take an external backup and at the same time disclaims responsibility for data loss as a result of crashes. 😲
It can also be small things in everyday life that have great significance. Did you know, for example, that folders deleted in Outlook cannot be restored? 🗑 You can restore e-mails from the folders for normally 14 days, but all e-mails are placed in your inbox - and must be sorted again... 🤔
If you choose a real external backup, all your data, an account or your folders in Outlook can be restored as they were before. 🕥
We recommend that you gain an understanding of your risk and make the decision from there. 💡
