So far, it has been a recommendation from the Norwegian Data Protection Authority that the private sector uses encryption when sending confidential and sensitive personal data.

The public authorities have had to use encryption since the year 2000.

Going forward, the Danish Data Protection Authority is of the opinion that it will be an appropriate security measure, for both public and private parties, to use encryption when sending confidential and sensitive personal data digitally.

If you don't already use encryption, you have time to get it incorporated as it comes into force on 1 January 2019.
